A little snow

White and more white
can't see for the ice
where to go
what to do

The streets are either slush or ice, one is safer but which
dropping white and covering my house with golden tones glowing out from under the snow

The gold is hidden in the snow
Glittering cold
blinding illusion
and what lies below may not be what we thought.

ah... i love snow for this sense of uncertainty it creates... and you've described masterly and beautifully here... when all colors are hidden... when you don't know where to go... when you don't know what's underneath...
when each step can change the story...

Wow!! I agree so much with human being's and Jon's comments!!-plus for me this was a "meaningful" poem for me to see today-not only was it lovely-as Jon said-but I almost cried when i read it because I told a friend today (and have mentioned this many times recently to people-I hope it doesn't mean my subconscious is "sensing" a near future for me in a way) but I keep on stating -for months now to friends and family "I will see snow again before I die! I don't care if I have to hitchhike to do it."

I was born in the high country-Colorado-and have spent half my life in the "desert" so to speak-Arizona-and I can't tell you how much I miss the snow. This was a beautiful poem for me and a synchroncity in a way also. It looks like you have such a beautiful blog here-will try to get back very soon!!

I think poetry nourishes the soul-especially in this world -I used to think -back in the 80s-that the world couldn't possibly become more unromantic or "corporatized"-boy was I wrong!
we are little more than "consumer units" now the way the PTB look at us-and it looks like people like you are such a breath of fresh air-or a "blizzard" of originality!!
all the best to you!!
ps sorry for my double exclamation points etcetera-I have done this longer than I can remember when I am enthused by someone/something-and I have OCD-and I can't seem to get out of the habit! well there-did it one time anyway:-)
