What's important

Remember
What's important
is it love, giving, family?
And when those are stolen
by memory spaces, holes, brain canyons
it's the drag of hours
pain
if the right pill is in the right place
even a little kindness goes by the wayside
if the nailclippers don't face the right way.
Who are you? Wife, daughter, son, mother
Hungry, I'm hungry
Did you do that paperwork?
Who are you?
Why?
Who?
What?
I'm hungry.

Echo,
I so enjoy your blog and thoughts/poetry!!
I would not have made it these past -well over two years now-without my family-so with me-although friends are extremely important to me-and learning-but family trumps everything in my life-all the best to you!!

this poem brings to mind a care-giving situation... i hope it's not stretching or offensive to say, but this poem makes me think of alzheimer's disease... the disconnect embodied here in the questions and the "who are you" and the small details of the clippers turned the right way... if i'm off the mark, I'm sorry... you write this so beautifully, and perhaps I'm reading only what I want to see...

thanks

Devin: Family does get us through doesn't it? Sometimes we totally take them for granted and we need to hold on to them. Thanks for reading my blog!

HB: Ah yes, food, that delicious vice.
? wv= belasect ?

Jon: You are exactly on the mark, I am a caregiver for someone close who has had several strokes and is undergoing a progressive dementia. Good call.

OF COURSE IT IS FAMILY WHICH IS IMPORTANT; AND FOOD.
VASCULAR DEMENTIA IS MY FATHER'S DIAGNOSIS ( I HAVE TO LOOK THAT UP), AND OXYGEN DEFICIENCY.
SO IT GOES,OR NOT

oops, sorry about the caps, brain not tracking reality.
We are in last stages of hospice care (medicaid helps) with palliative care and downward spiral to the end. We can take care of his physical passing but we can only hope that his mental passing is smooth. And we do.
My thoughts are with you for your tasks as we all must face sometimes.

You are here until you are not...Do your best everyday, and when you go to the next level- it will be in peace.

Brain canyons had me thinking on the lines of dementia. Its an old poem as I looked around.

I hope you are doing fine.

At times I feel life is an In Absentia moment if nothing more.
